How Much Are ECDE Teachers paid In Kenya | ECDE Teachers Salaries
ECDE teacher are among the lowest paid civil servants in Kenya and especially in teaching fraternity. ECDE teachers in Kenya are employed by the county governments and therefore their salaries are not harmonized. The salary amount an ECDE teacher will earn largely depends on the county’s remuneration formula for Early Childhood and Development Education teachers.
ECDE teachers are usually hired on contract basis by counties. Some counties hire ECDE teachers on a one year contract while others hire teachers on a 3 year contract subject to renewal. It is also important to note that ECDE teachers are not employees of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
On average an ECDE certificate holders earn Ksh.10,000 per month, Diploma teachers earn Ksh.12,000 while Degree holders earn Ksh.15,000 on. However, the pay may vary from one county to another.

Qualifications For EDCE Teachers
For one to train as an EDCE teacher one must attain the following qualifications.
Certificate Trainee: KCSE Grade D+ (Plus) or Proficiency Certificate in ECDE or Equivalent Qualifications.
Diploma Trainee: Certificate in Early Childhood Development or KCSE mean grade C plain or its equivalent
Degree Trainee: KCSE mean grade C+ or diploma in Early Childhood Development and Education or its equivalent
