TSC To Deduct Ksh. 6,000 From Teachers Salary For Training
Teachers to pay Ksh. 6,000 per year to cater for training. TSC has announced. Teachers should prepare to receive less salary thanks to the training program introduced by TSC
All teachers will start undergoing a training program starting this April. This is after TSC signed a contract with four educational institutions to take teachers through a training program. What is more interesting is that teachers will have to cater for the training by paying a mandatory fee of Ksh. 6000 per year. Each teacher will have to undergo the training 6 times in their career life.
The training program dabbed Professional Development Program will see the more 318,000 TSC employees undergo the training starting This April. More than 154,000 TSC registered teachers from the private schools will also undergo the training,.
The plan is not clear on over 300,000 yet to be employed by the TSC. Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT has protested the move citing its unacceptable.
The KNUT secretary General Wilson Sossion has issued a stern warning to TSC against forcing teachers to pay for the training. He has sited that the education act stipulates that any refresher course or training to improve the performance of any employee should be carried out at the expense of employer.

However the scheme will start despite of the protest from KNUT. The commission has already contracted four institutions to train teachers at a mandatory fee of Ksh.6,000. The four institutions are:
Kenyatta University
Mount Kenya University
Riara University
Kenya Education Management Institution
The institutions have already prepared the training material and Tutors in readiness for the training.
