A Daring Thief Steals From Traffic Police In Broad Day Light
A daring thief has done the unthinkable by stealing from Meru traffic police in broad day light. The incident happened in the presence of two police officers and some motorists.
It was a scene of its kind as the motorist watched the men in uniform who collect their bride being robbed. According to one onlooker the incident happened on Wednesday 19th February at around 1pm.
An eyewitness reported that the man emerged from the bushes, grabbed the officers’ loot then ran towards a steep slope adjacent to the road.
The witness, who was driving on the stretch when the incident happened, said there were two traffic officers at the spot – male and female

The male officer, he said, attempted to run after the loot stealer but the young man had timed his run well disappeared into the thicket.
Moreover, the officers were on the lane opposite the spot where the loot was being kept, and the fact that the male officer had to check for traffic before crossing over gave the thief a few more seconds to dash away.
The traffic officers were not armed with guns, they were carrying their batons when the incident happened
“It was like a five-second bank heist,” the witness said
“There are these steep roads that connect to the road, and the spot where the officers were based is shaped like a wedge. That is the road the young man used to escape. On realizing he could not catch the young man, the officer shouted at him many times. But there is little he could do as the man vanished into the bushes,” the witness reported to the Nairobi News.
Traffic police officers may have to improvise another way of hiding their loot. Because of the EACC officers who are on a manhunt to arrest corrupt traffic police officers, the officers prefer stashing their loot at one central place but this seems to give thieves a chance to steal the loot
