About The School
The school was first started in 1910 when the Church Missionary Society (CMS) came to Kabare to spread evangelism, health and education. With that, they started a church, a dispensary and a primary school at Kabare. After independence, the local leaders saw the need to build more schools in the district.
They met and solicited for funds from coffee farmers through the management of Kabare Farmers Cooperative Societies under the umbrella of Kirinyaga district Cooperative Union under the chairmanship of Mr. Marclus Njiru to start two schools, that is Mutige Girls and Kabare Girls High School. Kabare Girls High School started a form one class on 6th April 1964 with 35 girls from Kirinyaga district. The girls had been selected on Harambee basis through the sponsorship of the Anglican church. The school was elevated from a county school to a national school in 2012.
