Qualification To Train As Primary Teacher In Kenya And How To Apply

If you are aspiring to join any of the Teachers Training Colleges(TTCs) in Kenya, then knowing the qualifications and requirements you need to meet should be the first thing to look out for. The qualifications are the same for all joining both Public Teachers Training Colleges as well as Private Teachers Training Colleges.

Applicants interested in joining Primary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) must have a minimum mean grade of C (plain) in the KCSE or its equivalent. For those applying for the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, a minimum grade of C+ in the KCSE or an equivalent qualification is required.

Individuals holding other academic credentials besides KCSE are advised to obtain an equation from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to qualify for application.

How To Apply

The application for joining public teachers training colleges is done through Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)

KUCCPS encourages all eligible candidates, including Form Four leavers from the 2024 KCSE cohort as well as those from previous years, to take advantage of this opportunity. The application is open to both Kenyan and non-Kenyan citizens.
