Report: This Is Why Absentee Nairobi MCA Was Away For 2 years

Nominated MCA Habiba Hussein Lost her sit on 10th March after being absent and missing sittings for a period of 2 years. As per the findings of an investigation by the Powers and Privileges Committee of the Nairobi County Assembly,  Habiba Hussein had missed plenary sessions and committee meetings for two years with no explanation given on the same.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has jumped to the defense of Habiba Hussein, the nominated MCA who was dismissed for missing Nairobi county assembly sittings for two years.

It has now been revealed that the nominated MCA had undergone a difficult and complicated pregnancy for the better part of 2018. She delivered a baby girl, Shadia, but the child was born with a heart condition that deteriorated despite efforts by medics. Shadia passed away days after her birth on November 23, 2018.

“Hon. Habiba carried a challenging and complicated pregnancy to term, and delivered a baby girl Shadia, through a Caesarean Procedure, on November 21, 2018. Unfortunately, the baby was born with heart complications that are suspected to have arisen from the treatment the mother was undergoing during the pregnancy.” She stated

“Since Hon. Habiba could not undergo intense scanning that involved radiology during the pregnancy, she was put under medication for ulcers for most of the pregnancy duration, while that was not what she was suffering from. Despite the dedicated efforts by the doctors, Baby Shadia’s condition deteriorated due to a blocked A-V valve, and she died a few hours after birth, on the 23rd November 2018,” Omanga said.

The senator went on and produced documents showing the Hon: Habiba Hussein had been admitted in various hospitals among them Nairobi Hospital and Aga Khan hospital.

She stated that the legislators failed to conduct due diligence on the same and simply wanted to find a scapegoat from their own scandals.

“It, therefore, breaks my heart, as a mother and a woman, when people choose to politicize the pain and agony that Hon. Habiba has undergone in the last two years, simply because they have been implicated in stealing bursary funds meant for poor and orphaned children. To attack a woman, for simply being a woman, is not only unacceptable but almost Satanic,” she stated.

Senator Omanga went ahead and demanded an unconditional apology from Kitisuru Ward MCA Alvin Palapala on behalf of women for bringing the issue to the floor of the county assembly..
