Kibabii University Student Gang Raped
Kibabii vice-chancellor Professor Ipara Odeo said that the incident was unfortunate and called upon the police to move with speed and arrest the perpetrators
‘’It’s unfortunate that we have social places around the varsity that operate till late hours going against the directive of closing at 11pm that expose our students to such incidents,” he said.
Police have launched a manhunt for a gang of five that attacked three students of Kibabii University in Bungoma on Friday night in two separate incidents, raping one of them. This is just one among the several cases that have been reported from the institution.

It is reported, the incident happened between 3:30am and 4am. In the first incident, two second year students were coming from a local club when they were attacked. The two, a male student and his girlfriend were coming from Tuttii area when they were attacked.
The second year girl was raped while the boy managed to escape. The girl who was also injured was found helpless lying by the road before she was taken to the hospital.
In the second case that happened at around 4 am, another second year female student who resides outside the university hostels was coming to school when she was attacked. The girl who participates in taekwondo training at the campus was coming to join her colleagues in readiness to attend a competition in Homabay County.

It is the male student who escaped that arrived at the university compound while screaming. The other students were alerted and came out. They found one of the girls lying by the roadside.
Bungoma West Hospital CEC said that they received the three after they were brought by a well-wisher on a motorbike.
He said the two of them were treated and discharged while the girl who was raped is still receiving medication

Bungoma south police boss Wilson Nanga said that police have launched an investigation into the incident and will soon bring the perpetrators to book.
Bungoma residents have been asked to assist the police in nabbing the gang members by providing information that can result in their arrest
The hospital has since planned to transfer the raped student to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret for specialist treatment.
