Longhorn Announces Free E-Learning for pupils and Students

  • Longhorn will provide learning materials for the period schools remain closed.
  • The learning materials will be available for both primary and secondary students.
  • Learners can get access to the materials either by using the Longhorn e-learning portal or by SMS.

Following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus in Kenya, Longhorn publishers have come up with an e-learning method to help both primary and secondary students access free learning materials while at home.

In a statement issued by the publishers, they said the offer is to help minimize the impact of coronavirus outbreak.

“Learners with both smartphones and feature phones will access the learning materials either on the internet or by dialing our USSD code *864#,” said Maxwell Wahome, Longhorn CEO.

Grade 1 to form 4 learners will access learning materials on Longhorn’s online portal, elearning.longhornpublishers.com. The materials provided will cover both the new Competency Based Curriculum and also 8-4-4 system.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Longhorn Publishers said it had provided access to its curriculum platform to support continued learning for the period that schools will remain closed.

The president on Saturday ordered all schools in the country to close indefinitely leaving the 1st term education calendar in a limbo. Boarding and Higher level learning institutions were given upto Friday 20th to close.

So far 3 more confirmed cases were announced on  Wednesday 18th March bringing the number of confirmed cases to 7.

The longhorn free learning offer will be of great help to parents who were still wondering on how to provide alternative learning methods to their children while at home.
