Here is The List Of Journalist Who Were Sacked By Mediamax
With the news of Job losses at Mediamax going around, many have been asking to know the names of journalists who were laid off. Well, today we shall give you the list of the journalists that were sacked by Mediamax.
It was reported that Mediamax decided to lay off over 100 journalists due to reduced revenue the company was generating thus making it close to impossible for the company to carry out its day to day operations and still pay its employees. Before the sack some journalist had decried the dire situation at Mediamax that saw some of them go for months without pay.
Mediamax had opted to allocate some K24 viewership time to KTN in a deal that flopped before it even materialized. The company which is associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta was finally on its knees and had no option but to lay off a good number of its staff. Most of the affected members were from the K24 TV station, The People Daily Newspaper and its subsidiary Radio Station.
With the massive lay off, Mediamax opted for new recruits that were deemed ‘affordable’ to replace the sacked ones.
The journalists were fired on Sunday 20th June at night via SMS in what has been termed as one of the most ruthless sackings in the media industry.
Jalang’o was the latest to announce his departure from the Media house following a disagreement by the management on the pay terms.
“Today has been a very amazing day and a sad day with everyone at my work Place at Mediamax …Covid hit hard and everyone has to have their belts tight and unfortunately Mediamax has been hit too…I was not at work today because we had not agreed on alot of things and terms and even as we speak my HR had me on hold still discussing terms of employment…Unfortunately we did not agree..So just like today I won’t be at work tomorrow or any other day…In short Last Friday was my last day at Milele Fm and I want to thank everyone who supported me and every fan who was with that to the point we became the most popular and No 1 Radio Station in the country,” said Jalang’o. This cane some few days after Betty Kyallo Left the media house.
