The school started in 1981 with both ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level classes through the efforts of local leaders. It is named in honour of SIR CHARLES NJONJO who was the then Kenya’s Attorney General. In 2012, the school was elevated to national school status. In 2015, it got re-registered as a 6 stream and later in 2018 to a 7 stream with a population 1260
