Lupita Nyong’o Wins Two Prestigious Awards
Oscar Award winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has scooped two important awards at the 51st NAACP Image Awards held in Los Angeles America on Saturday.
The 36-year-old Hollywood star bagged the best actress award for her role in Jordan Peele’s horror film US while her book Sulwe was named the outstanding literary work for children.

Sulwe, which was published last October, follows the story of a young girl who wishes for her dark skin to be lighter. It was well received amongst people of color and whites and was voted for overwhelmingly thus emerging at the top
“Oh my goodness I just got the news about the best actress award from the NAACP Image Awards for the movie US, just wanna say thank you so much, I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be there myself,” Lupita wrote on her Instagram page after the awards.
“Thank you #NAACPImageAwards for the Best Actress award for #UsMovie!! I am honored and deeply proud to be part of your community. Here’s a dance to show you how this makes me feel!” She took toTwitter to react. The kenyan born who was not ipresent during the awards thanked Americans for believing and voting for her.
Lupita was recently featured in Sauti Sol song Suzanna in kenya. She notified her fans that she had travelled to her homeland for some work.

The Kenyan –American Hollywood star who begun her acting career right here in Kenya has seen her star shine even brighter ever since she won her first Oscar Award in her role in the film “ 12 years a slave”
She has been featured in several movies and TV shows among them Black Panther that was widely loved and followed. Her voice was also used in the famous Jungle book movie that was released sometimes back in 2018.
Lupita has also featured on several cover magazines in and outside America proving she is indeed a shining star.
