Chaos In Eldoret town as police engage traders in running battles

Chaos erupted in Eldoret town for the better part of Saturday as police engaged traders and in a running battle.

Following the order by Eldoret governor Jackson Mandago to close all the Eldoret market zones, traders who tried to go against the order found themselves on the receiving end when the county askaris  and the police came to throw them out. The order was as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

This saw the chaotic scenes render  Eldoret CBD a no go zone. It is reported that the chaos where much fueled when a speeding vehicle knocked one street boy. This saw protests begin and police responded by engaging the protesters. Police lobbed teargas gun canisters to disperse the protesters.

Residents and travelers who were within town were caught up in the crossfire leading to some getting wounded.

The police are currently trying to calm the situation.
