A List Of Testable Items During Annual Vehicle Inspection In Kenya

Before you present your vehicle for the annual Inspection, you need to make sure that your vehicle is in perfect condition and meets the minimum requirements.

All motor vehicle owners in Kenya are supposed to present their vehicles for inspection every year. But before you present your vehicle for inspection, one must first book for the inspection online. See how to book for vehicle inspection.

You will be charged Ksh.1750 payable online before presenting your vehicle for inspection. Payments are done throught the NTSA TIMS account portal of the Individual or institution vehicle owner.

Here is a list of items that are tested during vehicle inspection.

TESTABLE ITEMS DURING VEHICLE INSPECTION

At the inspection station you selected, the following items on your vehicle are tested

SECTION I – UNDERCARRIAGE

  3. Steering Mechanism/Power Steering
  4. Suspensions/Shook Absorbers
  5. Engine/Exhaust and fuel system

  8. General Service Brake and Air Pressure System

SECTION II – TYRES AND WHEELS

  1. Tyre type and size
  2. Tyre condition road wheels and hubs
  3. Spare wheel carrier

SECTION III – ELECTRIC AND LIGHTING SYSTEM

  1. Front and Rear Lamp
  2. Headlamps
  3. Stop Lamps
  4. Direction Indicators
  5. Front/Rear NO. Plates Condition illumination
  6. Instruments Panel Gauges
  7. Horn
  8. Windscreen Wipers/Washes
  9. General Electrical System

SECTION IV – CAR AND BODY WORKS/SAFETY BELTS

  1. Body Color [Checked against specifications in Logbook]
  2. Condition of seats
  3. CAB/Body condition specifications
  4. Doors, Wings, Bonnet, Bumper Bars and Side Mirror
  5. Windscreen glass and other transparent materials
  6. Markings eg Name, Address, TW, LC, PSV, Route, Yellow band etc
  7. Reflectors/Chevrons
  8. Security of mounting Seat belts
  9. Condition of seat belts

SECTION V – GENERAL ITEMS

  1. Brake Clutch Acceleration [Inspection in CAB]
  2. First Aid Kit and Fire extinguisher
