Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge Over Ksh100 Million Property

Renowned Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge, along with two others, has been sued for purchasing a disputed property worth Ksh100 million in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Court documents indicate that Kipchoge has been sued by the wife of athlete Daniel Komen, who alleges that Kipchoge and others purchased the property without her consent.

In the lawsuit filed at the Eldoret High Court, Komen’s wife alleges that the matrimonial land was sold without her knowledge.

Two additional defendants, local businessmen in Eldoret who also own a portion of the disputed property, have been named in the suit alongside Kipchoge.

The woman has now petitioned the court to nullify the sale, arguing that the sale and subsequent transfer of the title deed were illegal.

According to the court documents, Komen’s wife stated that the land, measuring 200 acres, is registered as part of the Southern East of Eldoret Municipality in Uasin Gishu County.

She further revealed that she was shocked to find Kipchoge and the two businessmen occupying the land even though she was not aware of any transaction.

Komen’s wife further accused the trio of taking advantage of her husband to buy the land at a throwaway price despite the property being located in a prime area.

The three are believed to only have paid Ksh10 million for the 200-acre piece of land.

While Komen admits that his wife is a co-owner of the land, he has argued that the sale was done with her consent.

“My husband has never mentioned to me the sale and hence I was surprised when strangers occupied it,” she was quoted as denying consenting to the transaction.

Komen’s wife became co-owner of the property after she took loans and gave her husband the money to purchase part of the land.
