Ascott Signs Citadines Westview Nairobi to Expand Dual-Brand Hospitality in Kenya

The Ascott Limited has announced the signing of Citadines Westview Nairobi, a 160-key hotel set to be developed in Nairobi’s Kilimani district. The property will operate alongside the existing 162-key Somerset Westview Nairobi, creating a dual-brand hospitality offering designed to serve both short-stay hotel guests and long-stay serviced apartment residents.

Scheduled to open in Q1 2028, Citadines Westview Nairobi will target a growing mix of corporate travellers, leisure visitors, and meetings and conference demand. The development reflects Nairobi’s continued emergence as a major regional business hub, supported by rising corporate activity, infrastructure growth, and increasing international connectivity, all of which are driving demand for flexible, high-quality accommodation.

The signing is part of Ascott’s broader Africa expansion strategy, which has seen 10 new signings in the past year. Once fully operational, these additions will grow Ascott’s African portfolio from two properties today to 23 properties with more than 2,800 units across 10 cities in eight countries by 2028. Key expansion markets include Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, where additional properties are planned, including developments in Addis Ababa’s Bole district.

According to Vincent Miccolis, Managing Director for Middle East, Africa and Türkiye, Nairobi remains one of Africa’s most dynamic hospitality markets. He emphasized that the Citadines–Somerset dual-brand model strengthens Ascott’s ability to serve diverse traveller needs while maintaining strong quality and operational standards, and highlighted the company’s continued partnership with local investor Britam Holdings PLC.

Ambrose Dabani, CEO and Principal Officer of Britam Holdings PLC, noted that the investment reflects long-term confidence in Nairobi’s economic outlook and the growing demand for professionally managed hospitality assets. He added that partnering with a global operator like Ascott ensures strong asset performance and alignment with evolving market needs.

Citadines Westview Nairobi will feature a mix of hotel rooms, studios, and one-bedroom apartments, complemented by food and beverage outlets, conference facilities, a swimming pool, and a fully equipped gym. Located adjacent to Somerset Westview Nairobi, the development will create an integrated lifestyle destination in Kilimani, offering seamless access to Nairobi’s key business and leisure hubs.
