Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Invites Bids for Construction of Ultra-Modern Medical Training Complex

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret has announced a major infrastructure initiative aimed at bolstering Kenya’s healthcare education and delivery systems.

In a notice issued on July 1, 2025, the hospital called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced entities for the development of an ultra-modern medical training complex through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The project—set to be constructed at the proposed site in Eldoret—will support the College of Health Sciences (CHS) and is expected to significantly enhance student training and accommodation facilities. It aligns with the broader goals of Vision 2030, which promotes innovation and public-private collaboration to improve national infrastructure.

Scope of the Project

According to the tender notice (EOI No: MTRH/EOI/63/2024-25), the selected private sector partner will be responsible for:

  • Designing and planning academic and residential facilities.
  • Constructing advanced teaching, research, and accommodation structures.
  • Providing high-quality, sustainable infrastructure to support a modern learning environment.
  • Ongoing operation and maintenance of the facilities to ensure quality and longevity.
  • Transferring all developed assets to the government at no cost after the concession period.

This project is not only a leap forward in infrastructure development but also a transformative opportunity to support medical education and health sector preparedness in the region.
