Meru Man Takes Brother’s Wife in Revenge After Alleged Drunken Incident Sparks Family Feud
A domestic drama has erupted in Meru County after a man, enraged by his brother’s alleged drunken antics, retaliated by taking his brother’s wife. The unusual story has left residents in shock and divided families.
According to sources close to the family, the feud began over the weekend after the older brother, identified as Mwenda, reportedly stumbled into his younger brother’s home while intoxicated. Mwenda was allegedly mistaken for a thief by the younger brother, Kinyua, who was startled to find him asleep on the living room floor.
Neighbors revealed that Mwenda had attended a night of heavy drinking at a nearby pub and, in his drunken stupor, mistakenly entered his younger brother’s home. “He thought he was entering his own house, but it turned out he had wandered into Kinyua’s compound,” said a neighbor.
Kinyua, infuriated by what he perceived as an invasion of his privacy, accused Mwenda of disrespecting him and his family. Despite repeated apologies from Mwenda, the younger brother remained bitter, suspecting ulterior motives behind the incident.
In a shocking twist, Kinyua allegedly exacted revenge by seducing Mwenda’s wife. The affair became public when Mwenda discovered his wife had moved into Kinyua’s home, sparking outrage among family members.
“I couldn’t believe my own brother would stoop so low. This is betrayal of the highest order,” said Mwenda, visibly emotional during a community meeting held to resolve the issue.
The incident has left the community divided, with elders stepping in to mediate the escalating feud. While some sympathize with Mwenda, others argue that his behavior triggered the chain of events.
“This is a family matter that needs careful handling. Revenge only breeds more problems,” said Mzee Karani, a local elder.
Local authorities have urged the family to resolve the matter amicably but warned that legal action could be taken if the feud escalates further. “Family disputes should not be handled through acts of revenge. We encourage dialogue and respect for marital boundaries,” said Chief David Mutuma.
