Media Max Sacks over 100 Employees Via SMS at Night
Media Max that is associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta has sacked over 100 employees via a text message. The sacking messages were send out on Sunday night. majority of the affected employees were from the K24 station and the People Daily newspaper that is owned by the media max company.
Reports say that the text messages were sent to the affected workers by various human resource managers. One of the text message seen was send by a human resource manager identified as Maureen read “I am contacting you with regards to the redundancy notice issued on 21st of May 2020. The notice period has expired. Unfortunately your position has been affected by way of redundancy. I would like to invite you to Emory Hotel in Kileleshwa tomorrow, Monday 22nd at 8:55am to discuss what this means to your employment. When you get to the hotel kindly ask for me. We thank you for your indulgence and cooperation in this matter.”

Not so long after the sacking, Tony Kwalanda one of the affected emplyees took to social media to break the news and announce his next move. His message read. “I am switching to another station and taking sports to a whole new level. Thank you K24 for the 11 years of GREAT experience. WATCH THIS SPACE FOR MY NEXT MOVE!!! ” Tony Kwaland Wrote.

The sacking comes just some few days after the planned merger between K24 and KTN flopped. Last week, media Max employees wrote a long letter that went viral and addressed it to the president demanding for his intervention following the tussles at the media house.
They lamented mistreatment by top directors and demanded payment of all staff members. It had been noted that some staff members who had sued the station over salary cuts had gone without salaries for almost two months.
