Africa Data Centres Partners with CSSi SA to Expand High-Performance Data Storage Solutions in South Africa
Africa Data Centres, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies and a leading pan-African data centre provider, has entered into a strategic partnership with CSSi SA, a prominent cloud and virtual machine provider as well as a major distributor of data storage, server, and data centre infrastructure.
Through this collaboration, CSSi SA will deploy racks within Africa Data Centres’ facilities to support South African customers with enhanced data sovereignty and up to three tiers of redundancy across multiple locations. These deployments will be hosted at Africa Data Centres’ sites in Cape Town (CPT1) and Johannesburg (JHB1), both of which are interconnected via 100GB links to CSSi SA’s CipherVault™ data centre in Midrand. This expanded capacity is expected to meet rising demand for resilient, compliant, and scalable data storage and colocation services across the country.
“CSSi SA’s expansion into our South African facilities highlights the urgent need for secure, high-performance data storage as organisations advance their digital transformation efforts,” said Adil El Youssefi, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Data Centres. “With businesses across South Africa and the wider continent accelerating their data-driven strategies, the requirement for infrastructure that is scalable, compliant, and built for resilience has never been greater. This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to providing enterprises with the reliability, performance, and regulatory alignment needed in an increasingly complex digital and governance landscape.”
CSSi SA’s CipherVault™ facility in Midrand will be directly connected to Africa Data Centres’ JHB1 data centre, enabling clients to benefit from seamless connectivity, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced redundancy—critical components for business continuity and long-term IT reliability.
“The opportunity to partner with South Africa’s leading data centre provider allows us to offer greater scalability, optimise operational costs, and deliver exceptional value to our customers,” said James Grcic, CEO of CSSi SA. “As one of Africa’s largest distributors of storage solutions, SSDs, hard drives, and server hardware, our ability to combine infrastructure, equipment, and services under one umbrella significantly reduces costs for customers while ensuring over 99.9% uptime. With more than 15 years of experience managing our own data centre, it was a natural step to collaborate with Africa Data Centres, and we are honoured to work alongside them. This partnership enables clients—including SMBs and resellers—to scale seamlessly and access premium infrastructure at costs up to 65–70% lower than previously possible. As we expand into AI and GPU services, this collaboration sets a new benchmark in the South African market.”
The partnership positions CSSi SA to offer even more robust, scalable solutions while lowering the barriers to entry for both small businesses and large enterprises. The collaboration also addresses the increasing demand for advanced hardware technologies, heightened data sovereignty requirements, and guaranteed uptime—key priorities for South African organisations navigating a rapidly evolving digital environment.
“We view this partnership as truly unique,” concluded Adil El Youssefi. “With nationwide low-latency connectivity, cutting-edge infrastructure, and world-class data centre capabilities available locally, we are meeting the growing demand for high-performance, sovereign data solutions right here in South Africa.”
