Marriott International Expands into the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Two New Hotel Openings in Kinshasa
Marriott International has officially entered the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the first time with the launch of Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa and Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa. The introduction of these two globally recognised brands marks a significant milestone for Kinshasa, offering fresh hospitality options tailored for both business and leisure travellers in one of Africa’s most energetic capital cities.
Nestled along the Congo River, Kinshasa is a thriving metropolis known for its role in regional diplomacy, trade, and cultural expression. Home to more than 17 million people, the city offers a vibrant mix of music, cuisine, markets, and easy access to the natural attractions of Central Africa—making it an increasingly compelling destination for global travellers.

Both hotels will be operated by third-party management company SARV Management LLC.

Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa
Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa offers a modern and locally inspired stay, blending contemporary design with warm, personalised service. Located in an upscale district near the Congo River, and surrounded by government institutions, corporate offices, and high-end retail areas, the hotel is ideally positioned just minutes from central Kinshasa.
The property features 88 thoughtfully designed rooms, many with balconies overlooking scenic views. Its light-filled atrium lobby—adorned with local artwork and lush greenery—pays homage to the building’s previous identity as a school. One standout feature is the hotel’s indoor pool, the first of its kind in Kinshasa, offering guests a tranquil space to relax.
